Introduction

The Hyrcanian Migratory Raptor Count is a comprehensive study focused on monitoring raptor populations during their autumn migration through the critical bottleneck region of Talesh, Gilan Province, Iran. Study Area

The Hyrcanian forests, a UNESCO World Heritage site, serve as a crucial stopover for raptors undertaking their annual migration. This region, characterized by its unique biodiversity and complex topography, provides ideal conditions for raptor observation. By utilizing thermal updraft sites within the forest, researchers can effectively monitor raptor movements and conduct detailed counts.

Objectives

To conduct a systematic raptor count within the Talesh region during the peak migration period.
To identify key raptor species and estimate population sizes.
To analyze migration patterns, including timing, duration, and flight altitudes.
